MANHATTAN, New York — The Time Warner Center in New York City, which had been evacuated earlier today, has reopened and personnel is being allowed back in the building.
“The NYPD has concluded its security sweep, and it is now safe to return to the building,” CNN President Jeff Zucker said in a company-wide email. “I so appreciate your patience, as I know what a long day this has been for all of you.”
Here’s what we know:
Several explosive devices were mailed to Time Warner Building, Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, liberal billionaire George Soros, former CIA director John Brennan, and Former Attorney General Eric Holder over the past few days. Law Enforcement officials and Secret Service personnel have announced the interception of the suspicious packages that were sent to liberal figures. An official from the Secret Service has reported that the device never reached Clintons or the Obamas residents. A package was also sent to former CIA Director John Brennan, which triggered the evacuation of the Time Warner building and shut down several blocks in the late morning.
According to an NBC News report the four packages sent to Obama, Clinton, Soros, and Brennan were “nearly identical” which all had a return address for former DNC official Debbie Wasserman. At this time the incident is currently under investigation by the NYPD and partnering federal agencies.
