PARIS, France — Live from Place de Republique in Paris on Sunday, October 18, as people gather to pay tributes to the man who was decapitated in what authorities call a terror attack near the capital on Friday night. On Friday, 47-year-old history teacher Samuel Paty was beheaded outside his school in Conflans Sainte-Honorine, northwest of Paris. The teacher had recently showed caricatures of Islam’s Prophet Muhammad to his students during a discussion on freedom of speech. The suspect was identified as being Abdulak Abuezidovich A., a 18-year-old Russian of “Chechen origin” who lived in Evreux, Normandy, with a refugee status. It is reported that the attacker was chased from the site and later shot dead in nearby Eragny-Sur-Oise. An anti-terrorist prosecutor has been called in to lead the investigation into the attack.
